WILLIAMSBURG — Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW) has announced the opening date for its long-awaited roller coaster, Pantheon.
On Monday, January 24, BGW took to its social media to make the announcement that Pantheon will open on March 25, 2022.
The roller coaster, built by manufacturer Intamin Amusement Rides, was originally supposed to open in 2021. However, due to setbacks that the park attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic, the official launch was delayed to this year.
Pantheon is also set to break records as the fastest multi-launch coaster in the world. According to BGW, the coaster will feature two inversions, four launches, five air-time hills, reach a height of around 180 feet, a top speed of 73 mph (the same approximate speed as the Bolliger & Mabillard BGW coaster, Apollo’s Chariot), and has a vertical angle of 95 degrees.
Specific elements incorporated onto the ride include: linear synchronous motor (LSM) launch (rolling), zero-G winder, LSM boost (multi-pass), vertical rollback, top hat (outside), outward banked airtime hill, and zero-G stall.
