Luella Jane Gatfield, born on April 13, 1954, in the heartland of Topeka, Kansas, passed gracefully at the age of 72 on April 23, 2026, in the serene surroundings of Virginia Beach, Virginia. With a life marked by devotion and love, Luella leaves behind a legacy that will forever enrich the lives of those she touched.
A dedicated stay-at-home mother and military wife, Luella was the backbone of her family, creating a loving and nurturing home environment wherever life took her and her family. Her role as a secretary further demonstrated her commitment to supporting her loved ones and ensuring their well-being.
Luella found immense joy and fulfillment in raising her children, whom she considered her greatest achievement. A true homebody at heart, she delighted in the simple pleasures of life, such as solving puzzles and crosswords, which reflected her keen intellect and love for detail. Additionally, Luella was an avid reader, always finding solace and inspiration between the pages of a good book.
A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Luella found strength and community in her faith, which guided her through life’s challenges with grace and fortitude. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Herbert and Elizabeth Bennett, and her cherished daughter, Tiffany Gatfield.
Luella is survived by her devoted children: Edward, Hillary, William, Jonathan, and Bethany Gatfield, who continue to carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her spirit of warmth and affection is cherished by her grandchildren, Kyara Gatfield-Geth and Emmanuel “EJ” Gatfield-Geth, and remembered fondly by many more extended family members and dear friends.
While no formal service will be held, Luella’s family plans a private gathering to celebrate her life and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her enduring spirit of love and resilience will forever illuminate the hearts of her family and friends.
