Joanna DiClemente Greenberg passed away in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on December 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her sister, Theresa; her niece, Susan; and her nephew, Alexander. She was 76 years old.
Joanna was born June 27, 1948, to Alexander and Patricia DiClemente, in Brooklyn, New York, where she was raised alongside her older sister, Theresa, son, Vincent Poncia III, with whom she shared a strong and unbreakable bond.
Joanna was a loving soul with a deep passion for music and singing. She embarked on her musical career in the 1960’s as the principal singer of the all-female group, the Love-Lites. This allowed her to work with some of the most notable and influential names in the New York music scene, which eventually led to her relocation to the famed Laurel Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, in the early 1970’s.
Joanna continued her foray into music and singing in Los Angeles, where she met her husband, Gerald Greenberg, a notable music industry executive, who served at the helm of Atlantic Records, Mirage Music, and MJJ Music. They were married in October of 1986, and they remained faithful and devoted to each other for 38 years.
Joanna’s musical endeavors ended when she developed a strong passion for interior design, working with many notable dignitaries, celebrities, and musicians in Los Angeles, as their personal interior designer.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald; her older sister, Theresa; her son, Vincent; her niece, Susan; her nephew, Alexander; and her two stepdaughters, Stacy and Dori and former husband Vincent Poncia II.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alexander DiClemente; and her mother, Patricia Malone DiClemente.
In her final moments, Joanna was able to share one last tender embrace with her beloved sister. They had always said to each other, “If one of us goes first, have comfort – I will see you on the other side.”
