YORKTOWN — First diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2014, Teresa Burroughs Ingram Tuggle Ingalls lost her battle Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, with her loving family by her side.

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of the glue that held our family together. But it’s comforting to know she will forever be dancing with the angels. She faced cancer with the same approach as other challenges she faced throughout her life — with strength, determination, grace and dignity.

During her professional career, Teresa worked with Newport News Shipbuilding, Ferguson and Mary Immaculate Hospital, but nothing brought her the personal gratification she enjoyed working with her uncle, Tom Olaisen, at the Boys & Girls Club of the Virginia Peninsula.

Teresa was recognized for her beauty, her classic sense of style and her smile. But she was most proud of her family, and her accomplishments, talents, creativity and DIY skills. She was as happy with an artist’s brush as she was with a paint brush or her own power tools. She spent many happy times renovating, decorating and designing homes for her family. She and Rob enjoyed wonderful vacations to Aruba, Hawaii, Las Vegas, San Diego, the Grand Canyon, Key West and several family trips to Disney World.

Teresa’s marriage to Rob in 2005 included four “bonus” children that she proudly added to her only daughter, Christal Ingram. The five children then brought four beloved grandsons into her life, Kyle Hughes, Rowan, Keagan and Josiah Ingalls; and one granddaughter, Ryleigh. With Kyle, the only grandson living locally, she had an incredible bond from the day he was born. She spent countless days and nights supporting and molding him into the man she envisioned for his future. She was his greatest fan and biggest supporter throughout his school years, on countless soccer fields, and introducing him to travel, the arts, movies and enjoyment in the simplest things in life. Kyle will always be a reflection of her love and influence.

Above all, Teresa wanted to be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Rob Ingalls of Yorktown; daughter, Christal Ingram of Yorktown; grandson, Kyle Hughes of Yorktown; Stephen Ingalls (Jennifer); grandsons, Rowan and Keagan, and granddaughter, Ryleigh of Virginia Beach; Rebecca Meridith [Ingalls] (Charles Meredith) of New Kent County; Jonathan Ingalls (Madison) and grandson, Josiah, of Fairborn, Ohio, and Michael Ingalls of Fairborn, Ohio; and her very special cousins, Tammy and Kirk Ayers of Poquoson. She is also survived by her uncle, Tom Olaisen. He and her late aunt, Alice Olaisen, played a very important role throughout Teresa’s life.

Teresa and her family would like to recognize Dr. Pringle, TPMG, for the years of exceptional care she provided. Special thanks also to her Virginia Oncology care team – Dr. Watson, Dr. Fleming and his exceptional staff for the professional, compassionate care they provided.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 9, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

Honoring Teresa’s lifelong love of animals, memorial donations may be made to the Peninsula SPCA, 523 J. Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News, VA 23601.

Share online condolences with the family at Weymouth Funeral Home.
