Mary Ann Quirk Maimone, 61, Advocated for Students to Reach Their Highest Potential

WILLIAMSBURG — Mary Ann Quirk Maimone, 61, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Robert Quick; and father-in-law, Charles Lee Maimone.

Mary Ann earned a B.A. Degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Education. She then became a high school counselor, specializing in college placement. Her passion for helping students achieve their goals was unmatched, leading to many years of admissions work at the College of William & Mary, as well as service to the James City County Public Schools. Mary Ann’s work in education led to a lifetime commitment and advocacy for students to reach their highest potential.

Throughout her career, Mary Ann was also a former NAACP Chapter Executive Board member and current organization member; Thomas Nelson Community College Board member; and a former James City County School Board member, substitute teacher and PTA leader.

An avid runner, Mary Ann loved to support local charity 5K races. She was also an aerobics instructor and enjoyed being outdoors and staying active. She loved to plan an endless number of family outings and reveled in her children’s joy.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Charles A. Maimone; son, Charles Maimone II (Jessie); daughters, Casaundra Maimone, Sarah Bonfiglio (Joe) and Anna Maimone; sister, Cindy Cuperzynski; brother, Jim Quirk (Bev); Margie Finan (John); and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Services will take place at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, 520 Richmond Road, Williamsburg.
