Kenneth W. Pleasant, 79, Member of Grace Episcopal Church for 48 Years

YORKTOWN — Kenneth W. Pleasant, 79, passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, after a brave battle with cancer.

He was born in Charlottesville, graduated from Hampton High School, and attended the University of Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and worked as an engineer at Newport News Shipbuilding for nearly 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Ruth G. Pleasant.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Pat; daughter, Joanna Frady (Ian); granddaughter, Cora; and favorite cousin, Charles Via of Charlottesville.

The family would like to express appreciation to Bon Secours Hospice, especially Denise, Karen, and Paul; and to Virginia Oncology Associates, especially Mika, Mary, and Mandy.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Yorktown, for 48 years, and the funeral will be held there at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 10, with the Rev. Seldon Walker and the Rev. Carleton Bakkum officiating. “Lord, give him your peace.”
