NEWPORT NEWS — Soon Osmond, 84, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Soon was born Aug. 15, 1936, in Korea. It was there that she met her husband, Sgt. 1st Class Robert S. Osmond. He preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage.
Soon lived most of her adult life in Newport News. She attended St. Jerome Catholic Church and was a former leader of the Korean Women’s Club of the Peninsula. Soon loved to play bingo and was extraordinarily lucky at it. She had a green thumb, enjoyed gardening, and tending to her fruit trees.
Soon is survived by her daughter, Bona Dresch (Russell Dresch); son, Robert Osmond (Tonya Osmond); grandchildren, Zachary Dresch (Ella Dresch), Lorraine Dresch, Lily Dresch, Katheryn Rizek (Calvin Rizek), and Alex Osmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 9, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. A processional will begin at 9 a.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel.
