YORK COUNTY — Arthur Almeday “Art” Alexander, 56, was called home Saturday, June 5, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones. Art was a loving husband, father, son, and true friend to many.

He graduated from Menchville High School in Newport News and then was employed by York County, working his way up to master service technician during his dedicated career of 33 years. Art took great pride in ensuring that county vehicles were safe and properly maintained for the sheriff’s department and first responders. When there were complex technical problems to be resolved, Art was always trusted for his knowledge, experience, and commitment to getting the job done right. While with the county, he earned master Automotive Service of Excellence.

Art enjoyed hunting, martial arts, playing the guitar, watching NASCAR races, boating, fishing, grilling, and most importantly, spending time with family, friends and pets. His greatest pride was his son Hunter. Always personable and ready to strike up an interesting conversation, Art was a blessing to all he encountered.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Robert Alexander.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Cathy, and their son, Hunter; sisters, Roberta Carrier (Mick) and Charah Sabel (Matt); brother, Robert Alexander (Brenda); and several nieces and nephews.
