A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully entered his heavenly home on September 20, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born on March 5, 1936, he lived a life marked by faith, service, family, and friendship. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman for 21 years, dedicating much of his life to caring for others and serving his nation with honor and compassion.
His faith was a cornerstone of his life. He faithfully served as the Choir Director of Highland Springs Church of Christ for 14 years, sharing his love of God and music with his church family. His voice, his faith, and his dedication will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Outside his military service and church, he enjoyed the simple things in life that brought him joy. He loved fellowshipping with friends from his bowling league, watching golf, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and relaxing with old Western films.
Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anna Harless; his sister, Linda Wyrick; daughter, Kimberly Walter(Scott); son, Dean Harless(Jennifer); granddaughter, Stephanie Williams(Cameron); grandson, Michael Pegram; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Williams. He was preceded in death by his father, William Harrison Harless; mother, Faye Cook Greene; and sister, Patricia Jenkins.
Though his passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, his legacy of faith, service, kindness, and love will live on through the many lives he touched. His family finds comfort in knowing that he has been called home and is now resting peacefully in the presence of his Lord.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 10, 2026 at Highland Springs Church of Christ, located at 416 S. Kalmia Ave. Highland Springs, VA 23075. Family will receive friends starting at 11am and the memorial service will begin at noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of William “Bill” Harless to Highland Springs Church of Christ.
