WILLIAMSBURG — Margaret Robins “Peggy” Jeffrey, 95, died peacefully Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at her residence. She was born Sept. 12, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio, as the fifth and final child of Florence Kaufman Robins and Orrin Asbury Robins Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Jeffrey Sr.; brothers, Orrin A. Robins Jr. and John “Jack” Robins; along with her sisters, Dorothy Robins Newcomb and Ruth Robins Miles.
When she was three, the family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she grew up and graduated from Germantown High School. During World War II, she was in the secretarial pool for the U.S. Army Signal Corps, where she met her future husband, Lt. Joseph Donald Jeffrey. They were married in Wilmington, Delaware, after the war on July 29, 1946. They moved to Nutley, New Jersey, in 1951, where, after giving birth, she worked as a bookkeeper for Beck’s TV for 17 years before retiring to Lake Park, Florida, in 1974. She subsequently resided in Boynton Beach, Florida, and St. Augustine, Florida, before moving to Williamsburg in 2011. Her main interests were doing genealogical research, traveling and keeping current with her extended family.
She is survived by her son, Joseph D. Jeffrey (Jr.) (Karen) of Williamsburg; grandchildren, James A. Jeffrey of Richmond and Meredith D. Jeffrey of Denver, Colorado; along with four nieces and three nephews.
Her cremains will be interred at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, West Palm Beach, Florida, alongside her husband, Joseph D. Jeffrey Sr.; mother-in-law, Rose L. Giuffre; and father-in law, John M. Giuffre, at a future date.
