NEWPORT NEWS — Lyndsey Unique Dawkins “Lynx” Blow, 32, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at the Sentara Careplex, Hampton, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Lyndsey was born Oct. 28, 1988, to Sherman and Gail Blow. In 2006, she graduated from Denbigh High School, Newport News. She completed a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mass Communications at the Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009. After graduation, she worked various jobs until she was hired by Christopher Newport University as the executive assistant to the Dean of Natural and Behavioral Sciences.
Lyndsey loved life to the fullest and believed idle time was wasted time. She loved to learn and had many interests, including learning languages, reading classical novels, researching and writing fiction, line dancing, knitting, crocheting, entrepreneurship and traveling (to name a few). Her greatest attribute was her acceptance of people from all walks of life without condemnation. She was a strong civil rights advocate who tried to treat people the way she wanted to be treated.
Lyndsey was very loving and loyal to her family and friends. She absolutely loved her “old people” posses, which consisted of her parents and 11 aunts and uncles. She also loved and strongly supported her best friend and baby sister, Bianca. At the age of 8, her love of Jesus Christ inspired her to be baptized and become a Christian. Her faith sustained her through her final days and her “old people” never left her side.
Lyndsey was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
She is survived by her parents, Gail and Sherman Blow; brother, Sherman Blow Jr.; sister, Bianca Blow; aunts, Linda Dawkins, Trumiller Blow, Delores Lucas and Karen Dawkins; uncles, John Dawkins Jr., Raiford Blow, Dennis Dawkins, Eddie Blow and Todd Dawkins; sisters-in-law, Diane Dawkins and Louvenia Blow; and a host of cousins.
The family is deeply grateful to the World Outreach Worship Center and the “WOWC guys” in Newport News for always bringing joy and hope when it was so desperately needed.
Due to the elevated COVID-19 risks, the family will hold a private celebration of life event at a later date.
