Quietly, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, Obiedie McKenley “Kenny” Gray, 91, departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest.

Kenny’s life began March 11, 1927, the only son of the late Martha and Josh Elizah Gray, of Savage, Va.

A lifelong resident of Williamsburg, Obiedie retired from the College of William & Mary after many years of dedicated service.

Kenny was also preceded in death by his wife, Irene Evelyn Harris Gray, with whom he shared 10 children; second wife, Myrtle Walker Gray; final wife, Sallie Thomas; and four sons, Albert, Carl, Benjamin and Curtis Ray.

He leaves to cherish many precious memories with his only sister, Dorothy Savage, of Williamsburg, Va.; one aunt, Cora Jones of Newport News, Va.; three uncles, Clinton F. Gray of Newport News, Va., Freddie Gray of Richmond, Va., and Thomas Gray of Baltimore, Md.; three sons, James Walker (Loretha), George Walker (Sharon) and Obey Gray, all of Williamsburg, Va.; three daughters, Evelyn Jackson, of Petersburg, Va., Dorothy Jenkins of Winston Salem, N.C., and Lacanis Gray, of Newport News, Va.; 25 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Helen Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm. Tuesday, March 20, at Bethel Restoration Center. Mr. Gray may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to services at the church.
