John D. Ratcliffe, 74, answered the Master’s call on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
His life began on Jan. 30, 1942, the son of the late Pauline and Vernon Ratcliffe of Williamsburg.
He was a former member of Zion Baptist Church. In 2003, he retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation, after many years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Pandora Ratcliffe; daughters, Paulette Blake, Holly Harrison (James) and Bernice Morris (Douglas); sons, Jonathan Ratcliffe and Johndell Morris; sister, Ella Mae Lee; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beverly Ratcliffe and Regina Blizzard (Linwood); and many other loving relatives and caring friends.
Mr. Ratcliffe may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, March 21, at the funeral home with the Rev. Morris Randall and the Rev. Linwood Blizzard officiating. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Family and friends will assemble at 6269 Old Mooretown Road by 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21.
