Alice May Humme, 86, of Williamsburg, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carel T. Humme, whom she loved very much.

Alice was a U.S. Air Force wife and moved many times with her husband and children as a result. They lived in several different areas throughout her husband’s military career, including Virginia, Alabama, Missouri, Washington, Oklahoma, California, Guam, Georgia and Hawaii. They settled back in Virginia when he retired.

Every new house became a home, and Alice was a second mom to many, showering everyone with unconditional love. Although she enjoyed her life as a homemaker, she had previously worked for the FBI in Williamsburg, Alice was a member of Bruton Parish Episcopal Church.

Left to cherish her memory are Alice’s children, William Humme, Patricia Gill (William) and Pamela Colonna (David); grandchildren, Jesse Gill, Ben Gill, Sharon Stewart, Sarah Kalafian and Isaac Gill; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 11, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, 201 Duke of Gloucester St., Williamsburg.
