Amos “Jack” Jackson Williamson, 68, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016.
Jack was a native of Holden, West Virginia, and a resident of Yorktown since 1980. Proudly serving 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, he retired in 1987 as master sergeant and a Vietnam veteran. His expertise in disaster preparedness led him to the City of Newport News in 1988, where he retired as the coordinator of emergency services in 2009.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Yorktown. Jack’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandsons and family. His vegetable garden brightened his spring and summer days. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Brenda Maynard Williamson; and a son, Shawn M. Williamson, and Sarit Schneider, and their family of Falls Church; a daughter, Cynthia W. Coffey, her husband, Michael; his grandsons, Nathan and Harrison Coffey, of Yorktown, VA; two sisters, Noacha J Voss and Shearell Thompson, both of Beckley, West Virginia; and his aunt Elsie Deskins, of Huntington, West Virginia.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, in the chapel of Amory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
