JAMESTOWN — A March storm wreaked havoc on a main cabin at the Jamestown 4-H Educational Center, causing the organization to scramble for ways to clean up and rebuild before the summer campers return.
The cabin — which holds 30 beds — is almost always filled to capacity for each summer camping session and is crucial to the success of the programs.
While insurance has helped, it has not covered all the costs associated with the clean-up and rebuilding and as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Jamestown 4-H Educational Center relies on community support.
On Saturday, May 31 a benefit concert featuring fan-favorite Good Shot Judy will be held at the center to assist raise funds for the facility with gates opening at 5 p.m. with performances starting at 6 p.m.
The Virginia Beer Company (VBC) will be on hand serving its local brews, along with a food truck offering delicious bites.
Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Friendly, leashed four-legged friends are also welcome.
Tickets may be purchased in advance — adult tickets are $35, and children between the ages of 4 to 12 are $15. Children under 3 are free.
“We’re so excited to bring the community together for this event! Our community has been incredible — we asked for help, and they showed up in a big and beautiful way. While this event continues our fundraising efforts, it’s also a heartfelt thank-you to the community we love so much,” said Stephanie Smith, Director of Community Engagement and Group Services.
Every ticket purchased directly supports storm recovery efforts, helping to restore the facilities and ensure Jamestown 4-H Educational Center can continue serving the community.
