ICYMI: Good Shot Judy to Headline Benefit Concert Supporting Jamestown 4-H Educational Center

JAMESTOWN — A March storm wreaked havoc on a main cabin at the Jamestown 4-H Educational Center, causing the organization to scramble for ways to clean up and rebuild before the summer campers return.

The cabin — which holds 30 beds — is almost always filled to capacity for each summer camping session and is crucial to the success of the programs.

While insurance has helped, it has not covered all the costs associated with the clean-up and rebuilding and as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Jamestown 4-H Educational Center relies on community support.

On Saturday, May 31 a benefit concert featuring fan-favorite Good Shot Judy will be held at the center to assist raise funds for the facility with gates opening at 5 p.m. with performances starting at 6 p.m.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of the James River, the organization promises a relaxed, intimate outdoor setting for a night of great music and fun.

The Virginia Beer Company (VBC) will be on hand serving its local brews, along with a food truck offering delicious bites.

“We love the Jamestown 4-H! They contribute so much to our community, and we’ve had a positive relationship with their team for as long as we can remember. We’ve popped up there to support their fundraising initiatives a number of times, including past concerts on the water and pairings at their cooking classes,” said VBC co-founder Robby Wiley.
He continued, “A number of our teammates have individual long-standing histories with the 4-H, so we just have a ton of personal and professional synergy with their organization. If there’s ever anything we can do to draw attention to the 4-H, especially in this time of need, we’ll be there — which means we’ll be there on May 31 selling craft beer and hard seltzers, and donating a portion of proceeds back to the 4-H.”

Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Friendly, leashed four-legged friends are also welcome.

Tickets may be purchased in advance — adult tickets are $35, and children between the ages of 4 to 12 are $15. Children under 3 are free.

“We’re so excited to bring the community together for this event! Our community has been incredible — we asked for help, and they showed up in a big and beautiful way. While this event continues our fundraising efforts, it’s also a heartfelt thank-you to the community we love so much,” said Stephanie Smith, Director of Community Engagement and Group Services.

Every ticket purchased directly supports storm recovery efforts, helping to restore the facilities and ensure Jamestown 4-H Educational Center can continue serving the community.
