Call the cops if you know this man. Authorities say he tried to rob a bank

A man the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said was wearing a fake beard attempted to rob a local bank Saturday morning.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. at the BB&T branch in the 6700 block of Mooretown Road.

Authorities said the suspect “did not display a weapon or leave with any money.”

The suspect was described as a 6-foot tall white man in his early 30s. Although he had facial hair, the suspect wore a fake beard during the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt with a gray hood or hat and jeans.

Deputies searched the area where witnesses said the suspect ran, but did not find him.

Authorities are asking anyone who may recognize the suspect or know of his whereabouts to call the crime line at 888-LOCK-U-UP or the sheriff’s offices tip line at 757-890-4999 — reference report No. 1904133.
