ORIGINAL STORY:
HAMPTON – Police here are asking the public for help in solving two separate and unrelated deadly shootings that happened just minutes apart Sunday.
At 3:29 p.m., dispatchers received a call about a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Nickerson Boulevard and Fox Hill Road.
There, officers found a woman inside one of the vehicles “suffering from a gunshot wound,” police said in a news release.
An additional occupant of that same vehicle fled the scene before police got there.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Information on her identity was not immediately released.
Then at 4:09 p.m., officers were sent to investigate a “stabbing complaint” in the 5100 block of Goldsboro Drive.
As officers were on their way, the call was upgraded to a shooting.
At the scene, officers found a man “who was suffering from a stab wound and an adult female who was suffering from a gunshot wound.”
The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury, police said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the man and the woman lived together. The pair “became involved in a verbal argument that turned physical.”
At some point during the altercation, the man was stabbed and the woman was shot, police said.
Further information about the incident was not made immediately available.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have information about either of the two incidents to call the Hampton Police Division at 757-727-6111 or the Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.
