VIRGINIA BEACH — A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a dumpster Thursday afternoon, police said.
The crash was reported around 2:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Miami Road. Responding officers said the adult male motorcyclist was dead when they arrived.
Police believe the man lost control of the 1999 Harley Davidson he was riding when he accelerated at a stop sign on Rappahannock Road and tried to turn right onto Miami Road.
“The motorcycle changed directions several times before striking a dumpster,” according to a Virginia Beach Police Department news release.
The crash is being investigated by the department’s fatal crash team.
No other information, including the name of the motorcyclist has been released.
