Motorists should expect delays in James City County this weekend stemming from a series of road races.
A trio of triathlons — The Patriot’s Half, Patriot’s Sprint and Patriot’s International — will affect traffic during the morning hours Saturday and Sunday, according to a civic alert from James City County.
The triathlons will bring hundreds of athletes to the area, and police will be directing traffic to reduce delays.
Delays are expected between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday on Jamestown Road near the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry, Greensprings Road, 4H Club Road, and on John Tyler Highway including the highway’s intersections with Greensprings Road and Monticello Avenue.
John Tyler Highway’s intersection with both Greensprings Road and Monticello Avenue will also experience delays Sunday between 7 a.m. and noon.
Drivers are also advised to use caution, as bicyclists will be traveling on the roadways even when there are no delays.
