Officials find possible accelerant in every room of Virginia Beach apartment that caught fire

VIRGINIA BEACH — Firefighters believe someone intentionally set fire to a Virginia Beach apartment over the weekend, using accelerant to make the blaze burn hotter.

The Virginia Beach Fire Department believes the fire at Summer Station Apartments began between 9 a.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. The apartment that was on fire was vacant, according to VBFD spokesman Art Kohn.

Officials believe the fire was intentionally set because they found fire accelerant in every room of the apartment, located in the 3500 block of Station Court. Although there was fire in every room, it did not engulf the apartment or spread to other occupied units, Kohn said.

Anyone with information on this fire should call the Virginia Beach Fire Prevention Office at 757-385-4228 or the Virginia Beach Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
