VIRGINIA BEACH — A Monday afternoon shooting left a woman dead and a man seriously injured, police said.
Around 2:30 p.m., a Norfolk resident told a city police officer that someone had been shot on Newtown Arch, according to a Virginia Beach Police Department news release.
Officers from Norfolk and Virginia Beach went to an apartment complex in the 5800 block of Newtown Arch and found 29-year-old Erica Alford dead inside of an apartment complex. They also found a man with life-threatening injuries and took him to a local hospital.
