NORFOLK — Four people were arrested Wednesday after allegedly leading police on a chase through Norfolk and Chesapeake.
Police are also searching for a fifth person involved in the chase, who escaped on foot, according to the Norfolk Police Department.
The chase began around 9:30 a.m. when officers from the Norfolk Police Fugitive Squad and the U.S. Marshals Task Force spotted a blue Mazda carrying five people who are suspected in a shooting that happened on a different date, according to the NPD.
Police tried to stop the car near Brambleton Avenue and Park Avenue, but the driver took off quickly. Police chased the car into Chesapeake, where the city’s police department took over the chase in the 900 block of Providence Road.
The driver tried to turn left onto Rock Creek Road, but lost control of the car and hit an empty car in a driveway. All five people fled the scene, but officers found and arrested four of them. Police are still searching for the fifth person, according to the NPD.
Charges against the suspects are pending.
