A high school student was robbed at gunpoint while walking to school Thursday morning, police say.
The student was walking to school around 6:50 a.m. when the robbery occurred in the 5400 block of Rutledge Road, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.
Police say the suspect approached the student, flashed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect ran away and headed toward Beaufain Boulevard in the Charlestowne Lakes neighborhood.
The student wasn’t injured, police said.
Police describe the suspect as a light-skinned black male, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 inches tall, wearing jeans and black shoes.
