Second Crash on I-64 Results in Fatality

UPDATE (Dec. 7, 2021, 4:31 p.m.): The original information provided to WYDaily by the Virginia State Police (VSP) stated that the first crash, which took place at 3:41 a.m., occurred in James City County. In a second release, the VSP corrected this by noting that the first crash occurred in York County. This story has been updated to reflect this new information. JAMES CITY COUNTY — A second crash that occurred this morning (Dec. 7, 2021) on Interstate 64 (I-64) in the *Historic Triangle has resulted in a fatality.

At approximately 7:22 a.m., the Virginia State Police (VSP) was dispatched to mile marker 227 on I-64 in James City County after a motor vehicle crash occurred which resulted in a fatality. Currently, VSP troopers are on the scene to investigate.

This is the second crash today on I-64 in *the Historic Triangle that resulted in a fatality.

No further information about either crash has been released at this time.

VSP is working to detour traffic. Drivers are advised to to drive slowly, be aware for any traffic pattern changes, and to slow down or move over for the blue/amber lights visible on the roadway.
