York County Releases Its Inaugural Popular Annual Financial Report for FY2024

YORK COUNTY — York County has released its first-ever Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30.

This report is designed to provide residents with a clear and accessible overview of the county’s financial position and key economic and demographic highlights.

With a population of 72,431 (according to 2024 Estimated Census Data), some York County highlights presented in the report include:

  • Total government spending of $190.3 million in 2024, an increase of 0.1% from 2023
  • 13,254 calls were received for fire service
  • 85,048 Sheriff calls for service
  • Tourism hosted over 80 community events

The information in the PAFR is derived from the County’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), which adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) but can be complex for those unfamiliar with financial and accounting terminology. By contrast, the PAFR simplifies this data, making it more user-friendly while maintaining transparency about the county’s financial health.

County Administrator Mark Bellamy stated, “The PAFR is a snapshot of the county’s finances that helps residents understand how their tax dollars are being used. This concise report provides insight into revenue sources, tax dollar allocation by expense category, debt analysis, and key projects of interest.”

The report can be accessed online.
