
HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Presidents Day is observed Monday, Feb. 17. Here is how local offices and services are impacted by the federal holiday.
James City County
James City County announced that offices, facilities, services, libraries and courts will observe the following schedule for the Presidents Day holiday:
County Offices:
Closed Feb. 17.
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center:
Open Feb. 17.
Parks:
All County parks are open year-round.
Park Stores and Guest Services Offices:
Closed Feb. 17.
Jolly Pond and Toano Convenience Centers:
Open Feb. 17.
Tewning Road Convenience Center
Closed on Mondays.
Garbage Transfer Station:
Open Feb. 17.
Curbside Recycling:
No change.
Libraries:
Closed Feb. 17.
Williamsburg
The City of Williamsburg announced offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 17. This includes all offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street and Quarterpath Recreation Center.
Waller Mill Park will follow normal operating hours, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., it added.
Garbage and recycling will be collected on their regular schedules Monday and Tuesday, the city said. For water emergencies after hours, weekends, and holidays, residents should call 757-220-2331. More information can be found at williamsburgva.gov/publicworks.
Those who need to pay a city bill when offices are closed are encouraged to use the 24-hour bill payment dropbox located at the front of the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., for city transactions. Payments can also be made online. The city cautions that dropbox payments made on Monday, Feb. 17 will not be posted until Tuesday, Feb. 18.
York County
York County announced the following government offices and courts will be closed in observance of the Presidents Day holiday on Monday, Feb. 17:
- County government offices
- Courts
- York-Poquoson Social Services
- Virginia Cooperative Extension
- York County Libraries
The Transfer Station, Recycling Dropoff, and VPPSA Compost Facility located at the Waste Management Center will be open; however, the on-site administrative offices will be closed, the county said.
Garbage and recycling are not affected by the holiday, the county added. Residents are reminded to place their trash and recycling containers at the roadside by 7 a.m. on their regular collection day.
