Nonprofit organizations within Dominion Energy’s service areas are invited to apply for grants from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation.

Grants will be awarded to support programs and specific projects that focus on human needs, environmental stewardship, education, and community vitality, according to the foundation. Grant requests are accepted twice per year — once in the spring and once in the fall.

The spring grant application period is currently open and closes at 5 p.m. on Feb. 24. Decisions will be announced in May.

“Nonprofits are instrumental in enriching local communities every day. These grants will strengthen their efforts to assist people in need and to bolster vibrant community life,” said Hunter A. Applewhite, President of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. “Supporting nonprofits is just one more way Dominion Energy works to make a meaningful impact in the areas we serve.”

Funding is available to organizations in areas where Dominion Energy provides electricity or natural gas or has significant business interests, according to the foundation. These include Virginia, South Carolina, northeastern North Carolina, Connecticut, and parts of West Virginia and Rhode Island.

New in 2025, the foundation requires grant applicants to register their organization with Benevity prior to completing the application.

The foundation said it will host virtual office hours in January and February to answer questions from nonprofits about the grant application process, timeline, applications, and the Benevity platform.
