AYLETT — CornerStone Community Development Center in Aylett announced over 40 businesses and local offices from four counties contributed to its 2024 Toys for Tots campaign, including Kingsmill Police Department.
The organization said this year the overwhelming need expressed online was for warm coats and clothes, and thanks to the generosity of those businesses, thousands of children from eight counties received gifts at Christmas.
Volunteers from The CornerStone Community Development Center drove miles and made several trips to ensure gifts were collected and distributed, while other volunteers sorted, packed and prepped for distribution.
“Our sincere thanks to the Marine Corps Reserve whose Toys for Tots Program primary goal is, through the gift of a new toy, (to) help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s economically disadvantaged children,” the organization said. “Aylett Toys for Tots is a local coordinating organization for the Marines’ program that helps carry out the mission of collecting and distributing toys.”
The organization also noted families in need are always welcome to The Lily Field, a clothing program of The CornerStone Community Development Center, Aylett.
