Esther Bain Named to the Dean’s List at Bob Jones University

Esther Bain, a Junior Biblical Counseling major from Williamsburg, was among approximately 720 Bob Jones University students named to the Fall 2024 Dean’s List.

The Dean’s List recognizes students who earn a 3.00-3.74 grade point average during the semester.

Jude Bain Named to President’s List at Bob Jones University

Jude Bain, a Sophomore Interior Architecture and Design major from Williamsburg, was among over 580 Bob Jones University students named to the Fall 2024 President’s List.

The President’s List recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester.

Located in Greenville, South Carolina, Bob Jones University provides a regionally accredited Christian liberal arts education. BJU has over 3,000 students from nearly every state and more than 40 countries.

Belmont University Announces Fall 2024 Dean’s List Honorees

Belmont University recently released the Dean’s List for the fall 2024 semester. Approximately 53% of the University’s 7,175 undergraduate students qualified for the fall 2024 Dean’s List.

Dean’s List eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

Local honorees include:

  • Finnegan Kilduff of Toano

Chelsae Thompson achieves Austin Peay State University Dean’s List Fall 2024

Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee recognized Chelsae Thompson from Hampton as one of the students named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement during Fall 2024.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or greater.

Sarah Brown Elected to Membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

Sarah Brown of Hampton was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, described as the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at University of Maryland Global Campus.

Brown is among approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. According to the orgnization, only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Local Hamilton College Student Zachary Smith Named to NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team

Zachary Smith of Williamsburg was recently named to the 2024 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) fall all-academic team for football. The recognition honors sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

Smith, a senior majoring in biology, is a graduate of Marthas Vineyard Regional High School.

The NESCAC, established in 1971, includes 11 highly selective colleges and universities located in the Northeast, and sponsors 27 conference championship sports.

Hamilton, a liberal arts institution located in Clinton, New York, is home to 29 intercollegiate varsity teams and competes at the NCAA Division III level. Learn more at hamilton.edu.

Yorktown’s Kidwell Among 11 All-ODAC Honorees for Shenandoah University Football

Corey Kidwell of Yorktown was among the 11 Shenandoah University student-athletes to earn 2024 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference football honors in selections announced on Nov. 26.

Kidwell, a second-team honoree, tallied 37 tackles, including 2.5 sacks. The senior forced one fumble, deflected one pass, and registered four quarterback hits in ODAC games, with three coming against Bridgewater.
