HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Every pet owner thinks their furry, feathered or scaly friend is the best. And, the adorable little beagle mix with the ’80s-inspired name, Ferris Bueller,  is back to tell everyone about a fundraiser that supports our local animal shelter, Heritage Humane Society (HHS).

Between now and June 17, submit your pet’s photo to The Heritage Humane Society’s 2024 Hello Summer Pet Photo Contest.

All pets are eligible to enter.

The top 13 photos with the most votes when the contest ends on June 17 will enjoy a complimentary photo session with Nicole Moyer of Sweet Ellie Photography.

Ferris (and his family) love to hang out with Moyer and get his pictures taken!

Moyer has done several projects with HHS but, providing her photography skills to showcase the personalities of pets in need and allow them to find forever homes has a special place in her heart.

“That’s how we found Ellie (the Sweet Ellie Photography namesake) — we saw her picture online and then drove three hours to get her because I knew she was MY dog!” explained Moyer.

Those with the most votes win a featured spot in the HHS 2025 Hello Summer Pet Photo Contest Calendar. The first-place winner will be the cover, and the second through 13th-place winners will each receive a month in the calendar.

Anyone can vote for their favorite pet. Each vote is only $1, with a required minimum of five votes, and 100% of the proceeds benefit the sheltered animals at The Heritage Humane Society.

Mini prizes will be awarded at 5 p.m. each Friday during the contest to the top-voted pet. You can only win one mini-prize. If the same pet is the top-voted winner for two consecutive weeks, the mini prize will go to the next highest-voted pet.

“I love collaborating with Heritage because I think they are a vital part of our community. They do a lot for pets in our area. And, they are always there to support when you need them,” said Moyer,  “It’s also really fun to work with them because they are always willing to be creative and have these fun contests!”

All entrants will receive information on the 2025 Hello Summer Pet Photo Contest Calendar after the photo sessions are completed and the calendar is created.

Entries and voting close at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 17.

“This is such a fun project and a way to support and come together for Heritage,” stated Moyer.
