WILLIAMSBURG — Strolling through Colonial Williamsburg during the month of December is extra special, thanks in part to the seasonal decorations that adorn many buildings.
The local tradition of decorating with natural wreaths and garlands, in what is now known as the “Williamsburg-style,” began in the late 1930s as the brainchild of Rev. W. A. R. Goodwin, rector of the town’s Bruton Parish Church and Colonial Williamsburg’s co-founder according to the Colonial Williamsburg Journal.
Most of the greenery is embellished with fruits, shells, pinecones and many other natural elements.
