VIRGINIA BEACH — Police are searching for a suspect they say robbed someone Thursday afternoon in a Walmart parking lot.
The suspect also led officers on a car chase through the streets of Virginia Beach, according to a Virginia Beach Police Department news release.
The robbery was reported to police around 12:52 p.m. at Walmart, located at 657 Phoenix Drive. A K-9 unit spotted the suspect’s truck at Holland Road and Lynnhaven Parkway.
The K-9 unit tried to stop the car, but the driver went into the Green Run neighborhood where he struck police and civilian cars, the release states.
The suspect then traveled down South Independence Boulevard before the K9-unit stopped the chase. Responding units saw the suspect traveling toward the Amphitheater, and nearby schools enforced a temporary exterior lockdown.
Police are looking for the suspect, who was driving a dirty, lifted maroon Ford F-250 with exterior damage and large tires. The vehicle’s Virginia state plate is VRB-5677.
A white female with brown hair, possibly in her 20s, was in the man’s passenger seat, according to the release.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect described can call 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or text “VBTIP” and the information to 274-637.
