A bright light has been extinguished. A patriotic Southern gentleman who exemplified humility, grace and immense talent passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017. James Alfred Lee Condrey, 56, was born on July 25, 1960, in Richmond moving with his family to Virginia Beach in August 1965.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey Loving Condrey and Sally Childress Condrey.
He is survived by sisters, Harriett Weir Condrey and Susan Condrey Keck; and brother, Bailey L. Condrey Jr., and his wife, Gail Dalferes Condrey.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Home, 2002 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, in Hollywood Cemetery, 412 South Cherry St., Richmond.
Jay was a most charitable individual. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to a charity of your choice. A ‘master gardener’ and ‘chef,’ he will be sorely missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
