Pilar Ruiz “Yaya” Treptor, 80, appreciated for cooking everyone’s favorite Spanish dishes

Pilar Ruiz “Yaya” Treptor, 80, passed peacefully away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. Pilar was born in Spain and traveled the globe with her Naval officer husband of 55 years, George T. Treptor, who passed in 2015.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and a mother figure to many. You could always find her sewing or cooking everyone’s favorite Spanish dishes. Pilar was an avid volunteer at St. Gregory’s Catholic School.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Theresa, and her husband, Tom Best; daughter, Tina Treptor, and her husband, Jairo Hurtado; four grandchildren whom she loved very much, Winston, Austin, Nicholas and Natalia; and brothers Pepe, Antonio, Juan Pedro and their families who reside in Spain.

Pilar will be dearly missed by all who knew her and enjoyed her laughter, felt her love and generosity.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church on Sandbridge Road, officiated by Father Rob Cole. Burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
