Operation Blessing is offering free snow shoveling assistance in Virginia Beach Sunday and Monday for people who do not have the resources to do so.

The elderly, sick, single-parents and patients who need to make to an appointment will be given priority, according to a city news release. To put a work order in, call 757-274-8650.

Snow shoveling assistance will begin at 8:30 a.m. and residents who receive it need to be present to sign a work order form. Without a signature from the homeowner, work will not be completed, according to the news release.

But Operation Blessing also needs volunteers to help with labor.

People who volunteer will be given shovels to use, tools, work coordination, lunch and a T-shirt. To volunteer, call 757-3740944 or go to the meet at the Christian Broadcasting Center parking lot, 977 Centerville Turnpike during orientation times at 8:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.

The city does not treat or clear residential streets, according to the release. Click here for a list of roads Virginia Beach Public Works clears and treats.
