Luke Gruendl’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning proved the game-winner as Warhill pulled a major 4-3 upset against York at home on Tuesday.
Warhill pitcher Aharon Davidson went the distance on the mound Tuesday, allowing eight hits and striking out seven batters in the complete-game effort.
Reece Koon opened the scoring for Warhill in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single. Later that inning, Sam Rochard hit an RBI single into right field that scored Koon.
York scored its first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning as Trey Kurtyka drove in Jaime Lewis on an RBI single.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Trey Drummond scored on a wild pitch before Gruendl delivered his eventual game-winning single.
With Warhill leading 4-1, York mounted one last comeback attempt in the top of the seventh inning.
With the bases loaded, Lewis drew a walk that brought the Falcons within two runs. On the next at bat, Kurtyka hit an RBI single that made the score 4-3 in favor of the Lions.
However, Davidson was able to record a strikeout and force a groundout to close the game and secure the upset victory.
Warhill (2-11) snaps a six-game losing streak with the win. The Lions will visit Smithfield on Friday.
York (8-3) will try to rebound on the road against Poquoson on Friday.

Lafayette suffered its second loss of the season Tuesday as the Rams fell 7-3 on the road against Smithfield.
The Rams started the game on a high note as Luc Lipcius smacked an RBI triple for the opening run. On the next at bat, Gabe Bono delivered an RBI single to center field to put the Rams up 2-0.
Lafayette’s offense stalled for the next five innings as Smithfield posted seven consecutive runs to take a healthy 7-2 lead over the Rams.
An Andre Lipcius solo home run in the top of the seventh inning snapped Lafayette’s drought, but was far from enough to get the Rams back into the game.
Lafayette (9-2) will look to rebound with a big home game against Jamestown on Friday.

Grafton Snaps Losing Skid With Win Over Bruton
Jacob McAllister struck out nine batters over six innings as Grafton topped Bruton 7-0 at home on Tuesday.
After three scoreless innings by both teams, Grafton scored runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to blow the game open.
Leading the way for the Clippers was Zach Wojonowski, who went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Also driving in runs were Justin Bowers, McAllister and Ryan McDonald.
With the win, Grafton (2-8) snaps a five-game losing streak. The Clippers will look to continue their winning ways on the road against Tabb on Friday.
Bruton (3-9) will travel to play New Kent on Friday.

Strong Fifth Inning Lifts Jamestown Over Poquoson
Jamestown scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning during a 3-1 win at home against Poquoson on Tuesday.
After four scoreless innings, Garrick Colorado delivered an RBI single that scored Roger Romero for the game’s opening run.
Later in the inning, Noah Scruggs scored on a wild pitch to put the Eagles up 2-0. Two at bats later, Cameron Mays drew a bases-loaded walk to record Jamestown’s final run of the game.
Poquoson scored its lone run in the top of the sixth inning, but was unable to close the gap further.
Jamestown (10-1) faces a quick turnaround at home against New Kent on Wednesday.

Middle-Inning Offense Lifts Tabb Over New Kent
After two scoreless innings to open Tuesday’s home game against New Kent, Tabb scored in four consecutive innings en route to a 7-3 win.
Pacing Tabb’s offense was Jake Berrena and Nick Hunter, each of whom went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.
The Tigers were able to keep New Kent’s offense at bay for the opening three innings before allowing two runs in the fourth inning and another run in the fifth inning.
Three Tabb runs scored in the bottom of the third inning alleviated any fears of a New Kent comeback as the Tigers held on for the win.
Tabb (5-5) can move above .500 on the season when the Tigers travel to play Lakeland on Wednesday.
