WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary football players earned three Patriot League weekly honors following the Tribe’s 22-15 victory over Delaware State.
Junior kicker Max Lipinski was named Special Teams Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while wide receiver Khylil Johnson was selected as Rookie of the Week. Sophomore defensive lineman Nathaniel McDonald earned honorable mention Defensive Player of the Week.
Lipinski made three of four field-goal attempts against Delaware State, including a career-long 51-yard kick in the fourth quarter. His only miss came from 49 yards. He scored 10 of the Tribe’s 22 points.
The King George native leads the nation with eight made field goals and 27 points among kickers. He ranks sixth in scoring among all players.
Johnson led William & Mary receivers with four catches for 83 yards. His 63-yard reception set up the Tribe’s first score.
The Pittsburgh native leads William & Mary with eight catches for 158 yards and is averaging 19.75 yards per reception.
McDonald recorded four tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, a pass breakup and five quarterback hurries against Delaware State. His performance helped the Tribe force six turnovers.
The No. 17/19 Tribe faces No. 10 Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
