Girls Soccer Roundup: York Scores Eight Goals Against Bruton

Michelle ShinYork won its sixth consecutive game on Tuesday as the Falcons cruised past Bruton 8-0 at home.

The Falcons had no trouble scoring against the Panthers, ending the game early in the second half because of the Virginia High School League’s eight-goal rule.

York (8-1) will try to continue its win streak on the road against Tabb on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Bruton (1-5) will look to rebound on the road against Jamestown on Friday.

HRA Routs Walsingham Academy

Lindsay Kovalcik scored a hat trick and added two assists as Hampton Roads Academy took down Walsingham Academy 8-2 at home Tuesday.

HRA jumped on Walsingham from the opening kickoff, scoring three goals in the first half to take a 3-1 halftime lead over the Trojans.

While the Trojans were able to net a second-half goal, HRA responded with five more goals to clinch the blowout victory.

HRA (10-1) will look to keep its seven-game win streak alive on the road against Greenbrier Christian Academy on Thursday.

Walsingham (5-5) will try to rebound on the road against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy on Thursday.
