WILLIAMSBURG — Water Country USA (WCUSA) has announced that it will reopen an upgraded fan-favorite ride while also launching two new additions to the water park.

WCUSA, located at 176 Water Country Parkway, is set to reopen an upgraded Aquazoid, renamed Aquazoid Amped. The new name is meant to reflect the additions made to the ride.

While guests have been riding down the darkened tubes of Aquazoid since 1997, they will now have what the park describes as a “full sensory immersive” ride experience. This includes special effects, music, and dynamic lighting effects. Riders will experience this all while plunging down 864 feet of the fully-enclosed tube with speeds that are reported to be up to 20 feet per second.

There are a variety of lighting effects, which would potentially provide riders with a different experiences with each ride.

WCUSA will open Aquazoid Amped to the general public on May 27. However, members will be eligible to ride on special preview days on May 14, 15, 21, and 22.

In June, WCUSA will open Lil’ Surfers Splash Pad. Located across from the Surfer’s Bay Wave Pool, this pad was designed for the littlest of guests in mind. It will feature spay cannons, dynamic fountains, and even a “kiddie” water slide.

Also opening in June is the park’s newest kiosk. The Surfer’s Bay Bar, which is located just near the wave pool, will be a full-service bar with craft beers and frozen beverages. The park describes this as a “tropical oasis.”

WCUSA is scheduled to open for the season on May 14. For information on the park, to purchase tickets, or learn more about the special member preview days, please visit the website for WCUSA.
