Alyssa Mia Peña Harper, born on January 14, 1999, in Pico Rivera, California, passed away on May 27, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 27. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to her passions left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Alyssa served as an aviation electrician in the US Navy, where she displayed exceptional skill, commitment, and camaraderie with her colleagues. Her role was not just a job but a profound calling, and she approached every day with enthusiasm and tenacity. Alyssa had dreams of soaring even higher, evidenced by her dedication to her education as she worked towards her master’s degree.
A proud embodiment of her Mexican heritage, Alyssa loved sharing her culture and memories with those close to her. She found joy in gathering with friends and trying local favorites, always ready for a meal at In-N-Out Burger or getting a hot dog from 7/11. In quieter moments, Alyssa cherished watching her shows, especially “From,” which brought her immense joy and relaxation.
Her beloved husband, Timothy Jay Harper II, survives Alyssa, as do her sisters, Amber Peña and Hope Zwanziger; her cousin, Bo; and her cherished fur babies, Basil the rabbit and Bisky the German Shepherd. She is also survived by a loving circle of extended family and friends who were fortunate to be touched by her warmth and generosity.
To honor Alyssa’s life and legacy, a Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 23, at Altmeyer Funeral Home Southside Chapel with full military honors.
