Donald E. Kahler, 87, of Gloucester, Virginia, passed away September 9, 2026. He was born on November 6, 1938, in Lima, Ohio to the late Floyd Farrell Kahler and Martha Melson Hever.
He was preceded in death by his three sons, David Arnette, Darrell Arnette, and Steven Kahler; and one sister, Helen Snaely.
Donald spent many years working as a diesel mechanic and truck driver. He had a great passion for working with his hands and enjoyed fixing up cars. Outside of his work, he spent most of his free time out on the road riding his motorcycle, or out on the water fishing.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Ona Kahler; his children, Don E. Kahler (Dawna) of Texas, Nellie Stemen (Bobby) of Lima, Ohio, Calvin Arnette (Brid) of Alger, Ohio, Tammy Kahler of Michigan, Bonnita DeWeese of Hampton, Virginia, Melissa Carte of Michigan, Juanita Parks of Alger, Ohio, Donald E. Kahler (Paige) of Williamsburg, Virginia, Douglas Kahler (Jenn) of Seaford, Virginia, and Gary Lee Kahler (Shirley) of Gloucester, Virginia; 33 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Bass of Toledo, Ohio.
In honor of Donald’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
