Tammy Erika Chouinard of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away at the age of 63 on April 21, 2026.
Tammy was born on January 6, 1963 at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Her dad, Heinz, served in the army. Heinz was stationed at various military bases around the U.S., so Tammy grew up in multiple states with her dad, mom, Marilyn, sisters, Cindy, Kerry and Laura, and brother, Glenn. The family eventually settled in Odenton, Maryland, where Tammy attended high school.
After high school, she joined the army and met her future husband, Wayne, at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. They married on May 21, 1983. Soon after, they welcomed two daughters, Rachel and Andrea. Tammy loved babies and was a loving and supportive mom. She lived with her family in Penacook and Bow, New Hampshire for over a decade and then they moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia when she was 35 years old. Later in life, Tammy was a proud and caring grandma to Charlotte, Harper and Andrew.
She loved her family, the beach, the color pink, chocolate and her dog, Molly. She had a difficult last few years battling cancer but was beating it and had a very positive outlook on life.
A celebration of life honoring Tammy’s life and legacy will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Southside Chapel.
