GLOUCESTER — On Monday, February 7, 2022, the Lord called Frances Elizabeth (Sparks) Hayes, home to rest in eternal peace. She was born on March 31, 1948, in Gloucester, Virginia to the late Clifton Sparks, Sr. and Emma Jane (Daniels) Sparks. Frances was born into a large family. It was a total of eleven (11) siblings, Clifton (Elizabeth), Patsy Ann (deceased), Joyce, Charlotte (deceased), Grace, James (Freemona), Joseph, William (Willie Mae), and Freddie.
Frances was the mother of five children: Samantha, Francine, Aretha, Anthony, and Bruce (Tiffany). Also, mourning her transitioning are fifteen (15) grandchildren, eleven (11) great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Notably a special cousin/sister, Janice Tillman.
Frances loved sewing, doing hair, and she most certainly had a green thumb. She had plants that thrived. During crab season, everybody was on “stand by” to bring crabs to her. She never missed a cookout or family gathering and we will all miss her collard greens and deviled eggs.
Frances was unique, vivacious, and beautiful…. inside and out!!!!
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, February 19, 2022, at First United Baptist Church, 6188 George Washington Mem. Hwy, Gloucester.
