Marcus Darnell Wadsworth, born on September 25, 1963, in Indiana, passed away peacefully at the age of 62 on August 28, 2026, in Newport News. He was a beloved father, brother, and grandfather, known for his dedication to family and his passion for life’s simple pleasures.
Marcus spent many years working as a skilled bricklayer, where his strong work ethic and craftsmanship were evident in every project he undertook. Outside of work, he was an avid sports fan who cherished the excitement of a good game. His love for boxing was matched only by his enthusiasm for fishing, which offered him moments of tranquility and joy.
A man of creativity and warmth, Marcus found joy in arts and crafts, often sharing his creations and techniques with loved ones. In the kitchen, his cooking skills brought family and friends together, creating lasting memories over shared meals. Above all, Marcus treasured time spent with his family; his children and grandchildren were the light of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Wadsworth and Renee McGee, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life. He is survived by his son, Marcus Darnell Wadsworth, Jr., and his daughter, La Toya Sharece Wadsworth, who continue to carry forward his legacy of love and resilience. He also leaves behind his brothers, Kevin McElwain and Derrick McElwain, who shared in his life’s journey.
Marcus’s grandchildren, Sariah Wadsworth, Amaya Wadsworth, Aniyah Wadsworth, Renee Wadsworth, Marcus Wadsworth, Laquysaia Borno, Larell Phillips, Loyaltee Feeley, and Shawn Feeley, will remember him as a doting grandfather whose stories and laughter enriched their lives.
Though he has departed from this world, Marcus Darnell Wadsworth leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories and a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to those he loved most.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 11am, Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave. Newport News, VA 23608.
