WILLIAMSBURG — Shirley Clark Guenther, 90, born Aug. 6, 1930, passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2021.
Shirley was born to Russell Donald Clark and Marie Hoagland Clark in Cincinnati, Ohio, but soon moved to Buffalo, New York, where she graduated from Lafayette High School. She graduated from Antioch College with a B.A in Biology and the University of Pittsburgh with a Master’s Degree in Library Science. She was an educator in the Ohio County School system for 26 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Brewster Guenther; and son, David Guenther.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith Guenther Madaras (Eric) and Kathryn Guenther Mitton (Bruce); grandchildren, David (Amanda), Scott and Megan Madaras; and great-granddaughter, Charlie Madaras.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, via Zoom.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Unitarian Universalist Church of Williamsburg or charity of your choice.
