SEAFORD — Nancy Lee Twigg, the daughter of Julius Voight and Anne Venable Troutman of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, after a long fight with Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. She was 78 years young.
Nancy was born Feb. 20, 1943, in Richmond and grew up in Williamsburg, graduating from Walsingham Academy. She spent her life on the Tidewater Peninsula, but loved to travel with her loving husband, Leonard “Joe” Twigg. From California, Colorado Springs and Las Vegas, to New Orleans and up and down the East Coast from New York to Florida, they spent many trips together. A little further away, Nancy and Joe traveled to Brussels, Munich, Austria and the Netherlands. They liked to play cards, snow skiing, bowling and played golf for many, many years. This past April was their 45th year wedding anniversary.
The two of them lived in Seaford, where they enjoyed their close friends and neighbors, and Nancy’s favorite time of year was the holidays. She truly loved to have all the family in her home for a get together, whether it was Easter, Thanksgiving, and especially, Christmas. One year seemed to get bigger than the last, as our dinning room table would be extended into the adjoining living room to have seats for the extended family and friends around her table for the celebration. Everyone was welcome.
Nancy is survived by her children, David, and his wife, Carolyn Brabrand, Diane C. Brabrand, William, and his wife, Janine Brabrand, and Allison P. Brabrand; grandchildren, Charles (Ricky) Hurley, Ryan, and his wife, Christine Brabrand, Sidney, and her husband, Klye Derouen, Evan Brabrand, Amber Krause and Brett Krause; great-granddaughter, Abigail; and great-grandson, Robin. She is also survived by her younger brother, James “Jim” and Connie Troutman. Nancy also had four stepchildren, four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive loved ones from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, at Bucktrout of Williamsburg, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, at the funeral home with graveside services following in Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Drive, Williamsburg.
