Brenda Gail Williams, 61, Remembered for Her Wit, Compassion and No-nonsense Demeanor

NEWPORT NEWS — Brenda Gail Williams, 61, died Thursday, July 22, 2021, with her family by her side after a long battle with multiple sclerosis and complication.

She was born May 3, 1960, to Willie Lois Andrews and William Edward Andrews Sr. in Anniston, Ala. Brenda graduated from Anniston High School in 1978 and received her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from the Lafayette School of Practical Nursing in 1989.

Brenda and Michael Williams were high school sweethearts and married in 1979. Together, they built a loving and caring home for their three children, Dejuan, Davara and Mechelle, that they would raise together to be independent, compassionate and ready for the outside world.

Brenda was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was beautiful inside and out, funny, loved to dance, filled with kindness and loving. She was known for her quick wit, compassion and no nonsense.

She was preceded in death and will be greeted in heaven by Willie Lois Andrews (mother), Ada Young (grandmother), Rosa Mae Angel (aunt) and Priscilla Lynch (sister).

Brenda’s memories will forever live in the hearts of her husband of 42 years, Michael Williams; children, Dejuan Williams, Davara Howard (Terelle) and Mechelle Daniels (Thomas); father, William Edward Andrews Sr.; siblings, Janet Kasheef, William Edward Andrews Jr., Jeffrey Andrews and Antown Andrews; granddaughters, Makynze, Abigail and Camille; grandsons, J’Shuan and Terelle Jr.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at noon, Tuesday, July 27, at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News.
