WILLIAMSBURG — Mr. Vince Lamont Boyd Sr., 61, entered eternal rest Thursday, April 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Vince was born Aug. 3, 1959, in Richmond. He joins his beloved parents, James and Mary Boyd; and brothers, Michael and Charles Boyd.

Vince leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Dr. Marcia Boyd; two sons, Vince Boyd Jr. and Javon Watson; brothers, Mr. James Boyd Sr. (Janet) and Mr. Kenneth Boyd (Lynette); aunts, Ms. Audrey Hatcher, the Rev. Brenda Wheeler and Ms. Jean Johnson; sister-in-Law, Ms. Annette Joseph-Walker; brothers-in-law, Mr. Morris Jackson, Mr. Harding Smith and Mr. Ronald Smith (Trinnese); along with countless loving nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

No amount of words could fully capture the life of Vince L. Boyd Sr. Vince was a graduate of Maggie L. Walker High School. Upon his graduation from high school, Vince enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed and completed his duties in Germany. In 1985, he graduated from Empire Technical School in New York City, majoring in computer programming. He returned to Williamsburg, where he was employed by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in various capacities, most recently as the bus operations supervisor.

Vince truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, talking and enjoying family and friends, painting (he was an accomplished artist), fishing, working on his cars and spending time with his wife, sons, nieces, and nephew (Noelle, Nova and Noah aka, “The Bad Butts,” as he would lovingly call them). He was a skilled craftsman that often took on difficult projects for family and friends. He genuinely loved his family, friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Boyd may be viewed from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 22, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 23, at the funeral home. Pastor James Johnson will officiate the service. Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance with facial coverings and social-distancing requirements. Livestreaming will be available at the beginning of the service.

The family would like to express our sincere thanks for all the prayers, comforting words, floral arrangements, and other acts of kindness extended to them. May God Bless you.

O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: Accept our prayers on behalf of Vince Lamont Boyd Sr. and grant him an entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of thy saints; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
