Evelyn Frazier Thompson, 56, worked as a CNA with Eastern State Hospital

WILLIAMSBURG — Evelyn Frazier Thompson, 56, died Thursday, March 11, 2021. She was born Feb. 1, 1965, daughter of Alexander J. Frazier Sr. and the late Alice Cowles Frazier of Williamsburg, Virginia.

In her youth, she confessed Christ as her personal savior. She enjoyed singing and spent many years singing with various choirs, including the Mt. Pilgrimaires; The Voices of Hope; Earl Bynum and The Virginia Mass Choir; The Williamsburg Gospel Choral; as well as with her family group, The Frazier Jubileers.

Evelyn graduated from Lafayette High School, Williamsburg, and obtained her cosmetology license from Jan Mar Beauty Academy.

Many people knew her as a hard worker whose career spanned over 35 years. She was an entrepreneur who owned and operated her own hair salon, Shear Perfection; and Mines, Yours, Ours Consignment Store. She also worked with various barbers and cosmetologists in the Williamsburg and Newport News areas for many years. Her second career centered around helping others. She worked as a certified nurse’s aide with Eastern State Hospital and various home health care centers.

Evelyn believed in giving back to her community. She was an active member of Real People Educating Others (RPEO) and 757GiveBack, where she assisted with mentorship programs, coat drives and back-to-school supply drives. She was also a member of the Williamsburg Elks, where she served as an officer for many years. She loved to cook and did not mind feeding anyone and everyone. Evelyn’s most precious treasures were her children and grandchildren. She did not play when it came down to them.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Alice Cowles Frazier.

She leaves to cherish her memories six daughters, Renarda Brown (Monchello), Alexis Perrin (Jerod), Ashley Ruttley, Renika Ruttley, Jada Thompson and Nyleah Jefferson; two sons, Keith Greene Jr. (Khelsi) and Malik Green; grandchildren, A’sheanna, Dominique, Alonie, De’Cha’Ney, Amore, Elijah, Aiden and Ashton; great-grandchild, Yuri; father, Alexander Frazier Sr.; brother, Alexander Frazier Jr. (Jessica); sister/aunt, Sandra Jimmison (Nathaniel); niece, Alexa; two nephews, Eric and Sherod; two great-nephews, Dakota and John; great-niece, Grace; godsister, Camera Williams; godbrother, Clinton Thompson; six aunts and seven uncles; and a host of cousins and many special friends.

A walk-through viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon, Wednesday, March 17, at Bethel Restoration Center. Facebook livestreaming will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. CDC precautions, including facial coverings and social distancing, will be required for all services.
